Following qualification from the Royal Free Hospital in 1976, Dr Gallagher
trained vocationally at St Cross Hospital and worked with various local practices
before joining us as a partner in 1990. She has special interests in Womens'
Health, Dermatology and Paediatrics, being a Clinical Assistant in Paediatrics
at St Cross.

Dr Derrick initially pursued a hospital career in surgery, culminating in fours years in Neurosurgery, before undertaking vocational training with Professor Hobbs' practice in Birmingham and entering General Practice. He has no special interests but performs a variety of minor surgical procedures, including no-scalpel vasectomyand is a member of The British Association of No Scalpel Vasectomists. He was chairman of 'RADOC', the now defunct local GP out-of-hours co-operative and was on the now defunct Rugby Primary Trust Professional Executive Committee.

Dr Martyr was born in Sheffield but attended schools in Scarborough before
graduating from Newcastle upon Tyne Medical School in 1981. She then spent a
further 4 years on Tyneside, gaining experience in medicine, surgery, obstetrics
& gynaecology, paediatrics and psychiatry. She received additional training
for General Practice both on Tyneside and on moving to Tayside, near Dundee,
where she gained 4 years experience in General Practice and Community Paediatrics.
She moved to Rugby in 1989 and has been with us since November 1999.
In her spare time, she enjoys photography, gardening and knitting.

Dr Lindsey graduated from Nottingham University Medical School in 1995. After undergoing surgical training and a spell in Accident and Emergency, he is now a committed General Practitioner, although he maintains an interest in ENT, emergency medecine and minor operations. He was born and brought up locally in Kenilworth and still has family in Warwickshire.

Dr Chopra graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India in 2002. Following her internship in New Delhi, she continued her postgraduate education in the UK, culminating in the Coventry & Warwickshire GP Vocational Training Scheme. She gained wide experience in all aspects of General Practice, including her qualification in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Apart from her usual nursing duties of dressings, family planning, cervical smears, breast self-examination tuition, ear syringing, blood taking, blood pressure checks, Sister Baker runs the diabetes clinic and has particular interests in coronary heart disease, minor surgery and audit.

Mrs Walker also carries out standard nursing duties and runs clinics for asthma and chronic obstructive airways disease. She is an independent prescriber.

Mrs Beasley also carries out standard nursing duties but runs clinics for wound management, advanced leg ulcer management and obesity management and is also qualified in sexual health.

Mrs Ahluwalia looks after ladies throughout their pregnancy, monitoring their progress, arranging their blood tests, scans and all other aspects of their maternity care.

Mrs McCrea carries out phlebotomy and ECGs and performs new patient screening checks. She also deals with the notes of patients new to the practice.

Mrs Hurt runs the practice, organising the surgeries, wages, staff and everything and liasing with the PCT and other external oranisations to ensure the smooth running of the practice. If you have any queries or complaints, Mrs Hurt is the person to contact.

Mrs Diane Ashwell Senior Receptionist, deals with the staff and doctors' rota and arranges the appoinment system. |
Our receptionists receive all our patients when they arrive, take all the telephone calls, make all the appointments, arrange all the surgeries, process all the paperwork, type all the letters and run the computer. All our staff are multi-skilled.
Our Health Visitor, our Counsellor and the District Nurses also form part of our Health Care Team.
